Matt Hu, Founding Partner & CIO

Matt is the Founder and CEO of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Hedge Funds business.

Matt is considered by many of his peers as the pioneering institutional asset manager in China. With over 25 years of investment and economics experience through China and the ASEAN region Matt has been at the forefront of equity investment and research in leading Greater China investment houses since the 1990’s.

Matt was Head of Asset Management and Investment Committee at China Securities, a top 3 China securities firm where he over-saw one of the largest equity portfolios. He also served as Chairman and CIO for Taifook Century Management in Hong Kong in 2004, which he co-founded.

Matt graduated from Renmin University with a BSc in Economics.

John Wu

John Wu, Founding Partner & Group Chairman

John is the Founder and Chairman of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Venture Capital business.

John is a highly accomplished ‘technopreneur’ with pivotal investments and successes spanning three decades. John began his career in Silicon Valley in 1989 most notably leading Yahoo! Inc.’s search and e-commerce technology engineering team from 1996 to 1999 and was awarded a patent for his work in “semi-structured search”. He went on to become an angel investor and CTO of Alibaba in 2000 which saw its market value grow from approximately US$30 mil to China’s largest technology company in 2015 with market cap. above US$200bil. John also invested in and helped to nurture several other successful companies, such as Huazhu Hotels Group, Jumei.com and Wedoctor.

John graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSc in Computer Science. John was named “China Angel Investor of the Year 2014" by "Entrepreneur" media, China Edition.

Rebecca Walters

MD – Business Development

Rebecca Walters, MD – Business Development

Rebecca has extensive equity market experience across Europe and Asia. Prior to joining F&H, she specialised in business development and investor relations at Vulpes Investment Management and previously with Artradis Fund Management. Artradis held assets of nearly US$5bn at the peak in 2008.

Prior to her relocation to Singapore in 2008, Rebecca was on the equity finance desk at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong. In London, she held a pivotal role at Brevan Howard Asset Management where she set up and managed the equity finance desk and was also instrumental in setting up the equity operations and equity middle office function. Her career began in London on the Goldman Sachs graduate program.

Rebecca graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science with a BSc (Hons) in Business Mathematics and Statistics.

Kwek Hyen Yong

Kwek Hyen Yong, Managing Partner & Group COO/CFO

Hyen Yong is the Managing Director and the Group COO/CFO of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses.

Hyen Yong joined F&H in 2010 to bring his wealth of Asian capital markets experience to the firm. Prior to F&H, he was Vice President of Corporate Finance and Advisory at Kim Eng Securities Group where he built an extensive track record of advising clients and managing investments and corporate finance transactions throughout Asia.

His career began at KPMG as a KPMG Scholar where he specialised in the auditing of financial institutions such as HSBC and public listed companies. Hyen Yong served with distinction in the Singapore Armed Forces. In Officer Cadet School he was awarded the Sword of Merit.

Hyen Yong graduated from Nanyang Business School with a Bsc (Hons) in Accountancy. He is a Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.

Li Xiaobo


Li Xiaobo, Partner

Mr Li is an accomplished investor and capital markets veteran with more than 25 years of experience. He joined F&H in 2013 to help grow its venture capital and private equity businesses. Prior to F&H, he was the founder and director of Bonanza Investment Fund where he focused on strategic equity investment and post-investment value-added services. Over his investment career, Mr Li led and managed many successful investments with high returns.

Mr Li is also a passionate philanthropist and has been the Vice Chairman, Supervisory Board of the China Council of Lions Clubs since 2015, and was President of the Beijing Lions Clubs between 2008 and 2009. He was recently elected the inaugural president of alumni association of China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI) which was co-established and partially funded by Bill Gates, and had been chosen to go to Harvard University Kennedy School of Government's Impact Investing course. He is an avid marathoner that has successfully completed the Grand Slam of the six leading marathons across the globe under the World Marathon Majors.

Mr Li completed his EMBA at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University and graduated from Renmin University of China with a Bachelor degree in Economics.

Shi Qiqi

Shi Qiqi, Managing Director – Portfolio Management

Qiqi joined F&H in January 2014 with extensive equity research and hedge fund investment experience. Prior to joining F&H, Qiqi was an analyst with Crescent Hill Capital which specialized in Asia long short equity strategies and was seeded by The Crescent Group.

From 2009 to 2012 he was an investment analyst with Riley Patterson, an award winning Asian long short hedge fund which through its disciplined risk management notably returned 20% in 2008. Qiqi began his career at Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) where he extensively analysed investments across stocks, bonds and hedge funds and developed his disciplined approach to risk analysis and management.

Qiqi graduated from Nanyang Business School in Singapore with a BSc (Hons) in Banking and Finance.

Jacqueline Guan Xue

Jacqueline Guan Xue, Director – Portfolio Management

Jacqueline GUAN joined F&H in July 2013 with extensive equity research experience. Prior to joining F&H, Jacqueline was a senior analyst with China International Capital Corporation (CICC) from 2008 to 2013, which is a top tier investment bank specialising in investment banking business and equity research.

Jacqueline began her career at CICC where she extensively analysed numerous stocks across several sectors, including materials, metals and consumer staples. Jacqueline was awarded best analyst (team member) in raw material sector in Asia Money in 2012 and the best analyst (team member) in building materials sector in Institutional Investor in 2011.

Jacqueline GUAN graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai with a MSc in Management Science and Engineering in 2008 and achieved her BSc in Business Administration from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2005.

Huajian (Mike) Shen

Huajian (Mike) Shen, Director – Portfolio Management

Mike has over 17 years Asia equity research experience. Prior to joining F&H in 2017 he was an equity analyst with Fubon Securities from 2004 to 2016, during which time he was responsible for in-depth valuation and business performance analysis of companies across the spectrum of PC components, peripherals, motherboards, NBs, OEM, optoelectronics and semiconductors. Fubon is one of the largest security houses in Taiwan.

In additional to developing his deep technical knowledge, Mike was responsible for communicating with clients, participating in, and arranging, numerous client presentations and road shows. Furthermore he is adept at sales-trading highly technical technology investment themes and pivotal in identifying industry trends and analyzing relevant news flows.

Mike graduated from Feng Chia University in Taiwan with a MSc in Finance .

Alex Ye

Director – Investment Risk

Alex Ye, Director – Investment Risk

Alex joined F&H in January 2010 as our investment research analyst on the F&H Venture Capital business, focused on industry sector and company-specific risk analyses. In 2013, Alex was appointed as the Investment Risk Manager for FengHe Asia Team to assist the CIO in identifying risks on the portfolio of FengHe Asia. Alex’s capacity for structured investigation and research coupled with his quantitative financial analysis has been fundamental in the risk measurement and management of FengHe Asia.

Prior to joining F&H, Alex was a senior software engineer for financial and IT systems with a global Fortune 500 MNC for 5 years and he also held other similar roles in China-based companies since graduation.

Alex graduated from Yanshan university in 1995 with BSc in Computer Science and Technology and achieved a MSc in Computer Science and Technology from the same university in 2001.

Jiang Yige

Senior Research Analyst

Jiang Yige, Senior Research Analyst

Jiang Yige joined F&H in Apr 2016 and is a senior equity analyst for FengHe Asia Fund. Prior to joining F&H, Yige was the co-founder and Portfolio Manager of Singapore-based family office, Hwada Capital, where he gained extensive equity research and trading expertise by investing in Hong Kong, Singapore and the US markets.

Yige was also the risk manager at Hwada which was fundamental to achieving a 20% relative return against the benchmark when the market crashed in 2011 European Debt Crisis. Yige began his career at Kim Eng Securities as Equity sales, where he became a specialist in Singapore equity.

Yige graduated from School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering in Nanyang Technological University with a B.Eng (Hons) in BioEngineering and is a CFA charter holder.

Jerrick Ng


Jerrick Ng, Trader

Jerrick joined F&H in 2015 and is responsible for the execution of all FengHe Asia trading covering Asia and US markets. He is also responsible for securing stock loan and ensuring pre- and post- trade compliance checks are met. Jerrick is also instrumental in performing the treasury function for FengHe Asia.

Prior to F&H, Jerrick was execution and sales trader at UOB KayHian Securities, (the largest Singaporean broker) where he was responsible for executing discretionary orders for institutional clients domestically and internationally. He started his career at DBS Bank as a Finance Manager.

Jerrick Graduated from the Singapore Institute of Management with a BSc in Banking and Finance, awarded by the University of London.

Rafael Yahlomi

Rafael Yahlomi, Portfolio Manager – FengHe Quant Fund

Rafael is a seasoned quant developer with extensive experience in developing diversified systematic strategies, both price-related and fundamental-driven utilising a multitude of asset classes including securities, bonds, currencies and commodities.

Rafael joined F&H at our Singapore office in 2015 to launch and run the FengHe Quant Fund, an Asia-focused long/short quantitative strategy. Prior to joining F&H, he was the founder and CEO of A.M Yahlomi Investments Ltd in Israel where Rafael developed quant strategies for Psagot & Altshuler Shaham, the largest financial institution in Israel. Further to his work in this area the firm launched several listed mutual funds on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange based on his algorithmic strategies.

Rafael served as an officer (retiring Major) in the Israeli Special Forces for approximately 8 years. He graduated from Open University, Israel, with a BA in Economics and Accounting (cum laude). He received his MBA in Finance from Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Currently Rafael is a PhD candidate in Economics focusing on asset pricing research with Peloponnese University in Greece.

Awdrey Yeo

Director – Operations

Awdrey Yeo, Director – Operations

Awdrey has extensive experience in hedge funds’ operations and accounting, having worked at similar roles at established firms such as FengHe, JH Whitney, Blackhorse Asset Management and HSBC Institutional Trust Services over her career. Awdrey is currently in charge of managing the operations and fund accounting team for FengHe’s hedge funds.

Awdrey is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and also holds the Certified Hedge Fund Professional (CHP) accreditation from the Hedge Fund Group. Awdrey graduated from Deakin University, Australia with a BCom in Accounting and Finance.

Stephanie Jin


Stephanie Jin, Associate

Stephanie joined F&H in May 2016. Prior to joining F&H, Stephanie has been involved in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone since its inception. She has deep experience in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone regulation consulting, direct oversea investment (ODI) application and official document translation. Stephanie has helped to set up over 400 companies in Shanghai Free Trade Zone, including wholly foreign owned enterprises, investment companies and SPV’s for private equity and venture capital investments.

Stephanie began her career in telesales at JFPS Group for industrial conferences and summits designed for Fortune 500’s management level attendees and is experienced in marketing research and telesales skills. She then furthered her sales and business development skills at Kingjets International Forwarding, implementing its business development.

Stephanie graduated from Beijing Forestry University with a BSc in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
