Matt is the Founder and CEO of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Hedge Funds business.

Matt is considered by many of his peers as the pioneering institutional asset manager in China. With over 25 years of investment and economics experience through China and the ASEAN region Matt has been at the forefront of equity investment and research in leading Greater China investment houses since the 1990’s.

Matt was Head of Asset Management and Investment Committee at China Securities, a top 3 China securities firm where he over-saw one of the largest equity portfolios. He also served as Chairman and CIO for Taifook Century Management in Hong Kong in 2004, which he co-founded.

Matt graduated from Renmin University with a BSc in Economics.

John Wu

John Wu, Founding Partner & Group Chairman

John is the Founder and Chairman of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses. He also directly leads our Venture Capital business.

John is a highly accomplished ‘technopreneur’ with pivotal investments and successes spanning three decades. John began his career in Silicon Valley in 1989 most notably leading Yahoo! Inc.’s search and e-commerce technology engineering team as Chief Architect from 1996 to 1999 and was awarded a patent for his work in “semi-structured search”. He went on to become an angel investor and the first CTO of Alibaba in 2000 and was instrumental in building the foundations in Alibaba which has become one of the largest global technology companies today. John also invested in and helped to nurture several other successful companies, such as Huazhu Hotels Group, Jumei.com and Wedoctor.

John graduated from the University of Michigan with a BSc in Computer Science. John was named “China Angel Investor of the Year 2014" by "Entrepreneur" media, China Edition.

Kwek Hyen Yong

Kwek Hyen Yong, Managing Partner & Group COO

Hyen Yong is the Managing Partner and Group COO of FengHe Group where he is responsible for the strategy and management of the group businesses.

Hyen Yong has extensive professional experience in Asian capital markets spanning fund management, direct equity investments and investment banking. He leads and manages the investments of FengHe’s existing venture capital funds, as well as oversees the corporate functions of FengHe Group. He joined FengHe in late 2010 and was instrumental in helping FengHe grow into a leading Asian investment platform.

Prior to FengHe Group, Hyen Yong was Vice President at the investment banking division of Kim Eng Securities Group where he built up an extensive track record of advising investments and M&A transactions across Asia. Beginning his career in KPMG as a KPMG Scholar, Hyen Yong specialised in the audit services of banks and financial institutions such as HSBC, as well as Singapore listed companies.

Hyen Yong served with distinction in the Singapore Armed Forces where he was an Officer and Company Commander in an Armour unit. He was awarded the Sword of Merit when he graduated amongst the top few of his cohort in Officer Cadet School.

Hyen Yong is a Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He graduated with Bachelor of Accountancy Degree (First Class Honours) from Nanyang Business School, Singapore. He also received the KPMG Scholarship Award for his university studies.

Li Xiaobo


Li Xiaobo, Partner

Mr Li is an accomplished investor and capital markets veteran with more than 25 years of experience. He joined F&H in 2013 to help grow its venture capital and private equity businesses. Prior to F&H, he was the founder and director of Bonanza Investment Fund where he focused on strategic equity investment and post-investment value-added services. Over his investment career, Mr Li led and managed many successful investments with high returns.

Mr Li is also a passionate philanthropist and has been the Vice Chairman, Supervisory Board of the China Council of Lions Clubs since 2015, and was President of the Beijing Lions Clubs between 2008 and 2009. He was recently elected the inaugural president of alumni association of China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI) which was co-established and partially funded by Bill Gates, and had been chosen to go to Harvard University Kennedy School of Government's Impact Investing course. He is an avid marathoner that has successfully completed the Grand Slam of the six leading marathons across the globe under the World Marathon Majors.

Mr Li completed his EMBA at Guanghua School of Management, Peking University and graduated from Renmin University of China with a Bachelor degree in Economics.
